Im starting work on my next project its a N/a 231(1987) .My question is that i want to put a larger cam in it and in the poston and kb cataloge it says that the guides have to be cut if the cams lift is above .420 ...and i know that som gn cams have more lift than that.i havent heard of any gn cutting down any guides----so what gives
can i put a larger cam in it without bind?
thanks
Brian

Lift of 0.420 at the cam is a LOT of lift. With 1.5 rockers, that's 0.630 at the valve. Don't know of many turbo guys running that much, and they probly have changed the heads. For reference, the "hot" ATR hydraulic roller has 0.548 lift at the valve, with 1.65 rockers. So, it seems like it would be good insurance to check the clearance, and then to have the guides cut, if needed.
