If someone can easily get under their car and/or have a driveshaft for a GN/TR laying around, I need to double check a dimension.

I need the length from center of the forward U-joint cap to the center of the rearward U-joint cap.

Just make sure you have one cap straight up & one straight down to be accurate.

Another way to look at it would be if the trans yoke was off, and the pinion yoke was off, it's the length from U-joint to U-joint, with everything sitting square. Should be around 51"-52" I think. Don't have one here to measure. Just post it here or e-mail.

THANKS!!!!!

If you don't mind me asking, is that from a book/website, a shaft from another manufacturer, or an actual measurement?

Thanks!

Any confirmations??

This information is in a published document submited by GM, Buick Motor Division to the "Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association of the United States,Inc". The information contains manufacturer supplied specifications for 1987 Buick Regal, Regal Limited and Regal Grand National, issued 10/86. I received this document from a GM engineer who is employed by GM of Canada and to my knowledge, still works for GM of Canada. It is a 33 page document.

Paul...

My stock driveshaft [in Ravenna] is on the shelf. If you'd like to take actuals, give me a call at (330) 281-1132. I'll bring it over this weekend.

Thanks Shaun, but got a couple confirmations that 51.43 was the right amount. Going with that.

Thanks ALL!
