I want to put a fuel gauge on my hood an I got everything but the holder an the only ones I am finding are the ones you have to drill holes to use. An there is no way I am doing this.. Does anyone know of what I can do or a gauge holder that will just slide over the hood???? I was thinking about making some kind of bracket an sliding it under the hood liner an having the gauge mount to it but I am unsure of what it would look like an how sturdy I could make it..

Jack Cotton sells a bracket, you still have to drill the underside of the hood, but it keeps the shiny side clean and unmolested.

Don't know how you'd do it without drilling the hood in some way or another....unless you made a bracket that comes off the cowl panel and sticks out behind the trailing edge of the hood.

Good luck,
Steve

Ok underhood light holes now thats a idea.. Whats your idea on the bracket an what I should make it out of?? I know I a will basically be taking a thin piece of probaly heave gauge 1/4 " aluminum maybe 2" wide an try to bend it into a U an making 2 holes in each opposite end. I say aluminum cause I fell it might be easier to bend. Whatcha think??

Aluminum would be good, but 1/4" is pretty thick. You'd probably be OK with .125" or even .090".

I had a friend fab me up a 2 X 2-5/8" gauges, aluminum bracket to my "plans". Then, I had it chrome plated - I have a chrome T. And since it's a track only car, the wipers have been removed - those clearance concerns are a non-issue. So my bracket likely would not look or fit right for y'all.

Someday, somebody is going to make a nice aluminum, black or silver power coated, 1 or 2 gauge bracket that clears the wipers and uses the underhood lamp holes. And he'll get rich. Well, maybe he won't, but he'd be doing the TR community a hell of a favor. And better yet, IT WOULDN'T BE THAT HARD TO DO. Are you listening fabricators?
