need help concerning vacuum block

is there a trick to changing the rubber hoses on the vacuum block to the lines coming off of it, and could these hoses being cracked really bad cause smoke to come out of the oil breathers, thanks

If the hoses are shot anyways, just cut them off w/a utility knife. As for the smoke out the valve covers, it's possible that if you have a good vacuum leak your PVC valve may not be working properly.
