I just finished the install of a 340 and a racetronix hot wire. I removed the existing hotwire kit - per Jack at Racetronix - and reconnected the tan/wht wire in trunk. Also put in a translator plus/extender chip and new 009 injectors. I double checked everything - including installing a new fuel filter. Here is the problem - turn the key on and the pump primes and the guage reads about 40psi. The car starts only to die in a matter of seconds. The fuel pressure goes to zero. I am not sure what to do next. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance - I would not have been able to get this far without this site.

Try this. Key off. Behind the alternator is a single black wire. When this wire gets 12v it will run the fuel pump. The black wire going to the underhood light has 12v.

Touch the two black wires together, do not connect, just touch and see if the pump runs as long as the wires are touched.

This is one way to drain the fuel tank if you ever need to.

thanks for the response - I did that - the pump runs. When I dropped the tank I replaced the lines that go from the hard line to the tank. I bought fuel line from Napa and told him what I was doing. The fuel line he gave me said not for use with Fuel injection systems. Is there a diference for fuel lines?

I'm not sure. When I changed out my pump I used the existing hoses.

The fuel filter has the arrow pointing in the correct direction? Is the fuel filter an AC unit?

You might try disconnecting the hotwire and hook the stock wires back up and see if it runs ok.

Get that out of there before that retard at Napa gets you blown up! It says not for fuel injection for a reason! Its made for low pressure fuel systems we exceed what they consider high pressure systems much less a low pressure one. The line you have could swell up like a ballon and pop and spray high pressure gasoline every where!

Dan - the filter is a purolator and I double checked to make sure the arrow was pointing in the correct direction. Thanks for the suggestions.

ES1 - I did after you suggested it. It acted the same.

I cranked the car and it ran for a few seconds and dies just as before. I can watch the autometer electric guage (just installed) go from about 35psi to 0 psi when the car is running for that short time. I followed teh gnttype.org install for the injectors. I have looked closely at that also. But I am still at a loss.

thanks Jason. I should have followed my gut - Oh well I learned something new. Now to drop the fuel tank again.

I found the problem. I had to disable the antitheft on the extender chip. When I did this the car fired up an ran just as smoothly as ever. I am estatic and also feel kinda of stupid for not realizing this in the first place. I found the info while searching for anything I thought might help. Thanks to all the responses.
