How often do wastegate actuators go bad? Is it possible to blow out the diaphragm(if they have one)? I dont think the actual wastegate puck is stuck b/c i can move it around with my hand and when i pull on the rod hard it moves some. When really gettin on it a few days ago, i heard a pop(not headgasket or intercooler hose or anything) and then the turbo seemed to spool more than usual. Now no matter how long i make the rod i cant turn the boost down(all vaccum hoses are good too). When i tromp on it the boost shoots up too quick i think and the engine stumbles and seems to backfire through the intake. If i ease into it it pulls hard but i cant go more than 1/2 throttle for fear of overboosting. Anyone else have this problem?

Are you sure all the boost control lines are secure?

Run a single line straight from the compressor to the actuator to rule out actuator.
