I know there are a some kitchen appliance repair techs here, so, I hope you can help me :)

Our side by side refrigerator-freezer is acting up. The freezer temperature is fluxuating from 10*F to 32*F (ref compt 40-50 degrees) freezer contents are defrosting.

The face of the front edge around the freezing compt is quite warm to the touch for long periods and then back to room temp (I've seen this when the automatic defrost feature operates, but never lasting two days like this).

When the compressor runs, the temp goes right down, then stays off long enough to allow the temp to get too high before it cycles again. Some kind of sensor malfunction I'd guess... Worth fixing....? Part source....?

P.S. Whirlpool No-Frost side by side refer-freezer, Model ED25PW or ED22PW, new in 1993

TIA :)

Fixed....I think :)

Thanks for the response Turbosam6 :)

We noticed there was not much air circulating while the compressor was running. There used to be more. I rigged a portable fan to move the air around the condenser coils, and everything worked fine, the temps stabalized where they should be.

Long story short, before I called a repair person, I took the back off to look at the condenser fan....It was stopped. Replaced the fan and everything seems normal again. $36 for parts. Time will tell.

The heat in the condenser coils must have mimicked conditions consistent with too much frost in the system, hence the defrost cycle on too much, what do you think Turbosam6?

I'm happy

Sounds like you fixed it

GOOD JOB!!!!

As I know it's a thankless job to repair household items. The more ya fix, the more they expect it.
