Installed my new 210/215 roller, what end play should I shoot for?

I've set two billet cams up and I was looking for window no tighter 5 thousands or no more than 9 thousands. Some may say you can go I little tighter down to 3 thousand but I ended up cracking a front cover on an attempt when running one this tight.

I will 2nd those clearance numbers. We are building a roller engine right now and have the clearance on the roller cam at 7 thou. Had 1st set-up at 2.5-3 and that would have been too tight. I believe 3 thou. is the suggested minimum.

Hope this helps you.

Thanks guys!
Now, what if the provided shims do not take up enough slack?
The front cover is new....

Get more. Either call the retailer or manufacturer and let them know the product is not doing it's job. This may also help the next guy who buys one.

Hope this helps.

Are all bolts in the front cover torqued to specs? Also some gaskets run a little thicker, I do know the GM gasket is thinner than a Fel-Pro.

All bolts are torqued to spec, it is a Felpro blue gasket which seems to be quite thick.

Has anybody measured the difference in thickness between the Felpro and GM gaskets? Just wondered, seems to be quite a big difference.

Re-shimmed it and ended up with 6.5 thousands......good to go!
