Hey Guys, I just got the freshly rebuilt pte51 mounted and had my leaky manifolds re-welded. I am currently running a Thrasher 93 burnt for the 009 injs. This chip w/stock turbo ran good, spooled like mad with the usual tip in. I know it was supposed to be rich at idle. The plugs have been replaced because of gas fouling (Auto lite 23s, I'm back to AC rts44s).But I digress. Anyway, I have only taken the GN out twice since the install, but am a bit disappointed at the lag I have. I haven't gone banzai with it yet but the in town driving ( accelerating from light to light) is a lot slower that the stock combo. Cound the chip now be incompatible with this combo? If so please give me some recommendations on chip combos so I can get this ironed out ASAP. BTW when the boost does come up it is breathtaking!!! The acceleration is everything I have wanted!

What convertor?, what exhaust housing?, is it too rich?
I know with my 51 and a 9" convertor w/2800 stall and a boost controller form modern muslecar the 51 is as quick if not quicker to spool than stock.

Its an Art Carr 2800. As far as the housing, I'm not sure, I assume the standard. I'll ask my friend, he'll know for sure if it really matters.

if it is so rich that it is fouling plugs...It won't help the spool any.

Also, 2800 rpm, if that is what it stalls to...may not be that zippy with a 51, tho', it should not be too bad.

They housing is a precision .63 he said. As far as the fouling goes, It is not choking rich. You can't tell it actually standing behind the car. The idle is smooth. I was just checking the plugs as part of the process and noticed that they were like that. Thats with about 500 mi on that chip. It always smelled rich with the Pit Bull chip but the plugs were always clean. Another thing also, When I was checking for leaks on the first drive I noticed water dripping from the turbo mount flange down onto my lower radiator hose. I am using a GM gasket at the flange because I wasn't sure if the surface was true. The bolts felt tight. Maybe it's leaking there and I can't hear it? What do you guys think?

I have almost the same combo PT-51,009,except 3000 stall . My car spooled real slow. I was fat down low and lean up top. It always smelled rich at idle. I checked for leaks in the exhaust and found none. I then replaced my JL 93 20* with a JC chip. The car ran better and the problem was solved.

So whats the concensus about chips? Jay Carter, Jim Testa or Ramchargers? I would like the extender chip but that is not in the budget at the moment.

I've had nothing but good luck with both Jay Carter's and Jim Testa's chips. Top notch products IMO.

It may be the fueling, but I don't think the 2800 stall is the problem. My 51 uses a 9.5 @2800 and it screams, my conv was originally 3000 and I had it changed to 2800 because it was too aggressive for my taste on the street, my 51 is also a TA version but that should not make a difference.
