I'm Will I live in Tacoma, WA.

I just bought an '85 Riviera T-Type.
Black w/Red pin stipes, Maroon leather, power everything. 158K

I'm trying to find out as much info about the car as possible.

Also, where and how do I check the engine codes ?
The check engine light comes on when I let it idle for any period of time over a few seconds.
But as soon as I get going again the light goes out and the car drives fine. Got any ideas?

Not familiar with Riviera T-types, but perhaps this procedure will work to pull the codes http://www.gnttype.org/maint/malf.html

You could get a service manual or google to find what your code number means.

You could always take your car to B&B on 72nd and Pacific. Tell them Gabe send you in for a code grab. They would be happy to do it. Also, AutoZone accross the street will do a free code grab as well. They are on pacific just north of 72nd. Hope this helps.
