Hi a friend of mine just bought his brother in-laws '86 T-Type, looks to be a decent car. Well my friend is okay with cars but I have a feeling hes going to break it so I am trying to go through the car with him and make sure everything up to snuff.
How are turbo buicks compared to the syty's? I know the syty and there are recommended mods to help keep everything running for a while, are tb's like that and if so could you give me some recommendations. I am trying to figure the car out, it defiantly has some non-stock parts on it, the throttle body and elbow are polished aluminum thats not stock right? When I took it for a ride I noticed it was making 12#'s boost I figured that was kind of low, I was checking around the boost solenoid and noticed one vacuum line was kinked so I fixed that but have not drove it yet.
Now on to the recommended parts, I want to put some ngk plugs in it based on my experience with them, is ur-4 the correct plug? It has some 10mm magnacore plug wires so I was going to leave those for now, what brand of exhaust is recommended? I told my friend first thing he is going to buy is scanmaster since he doesn't have a laptop, does that sound like a good start? Oh and does anyone make a silicone vacuum hose kit for these which would include tees and check valves? What kind of chip is recommened and where to buy it and what needs to be done to the car for it to run good.
Also does anyone have some detailed pics of the underhood that they could send me? I want to see what everything should look like under the hood so I can help get this thing running good and killing some mustangs
