OK, my GN has been sitting for about a year and a half. Of that time, about a year with no oil, and filter. Before the car sat it ran and had oil pressure. I just tried cranking the car 4 or 5 times, for approximately 8 to 10 seconds each time to try to build up pressure. I got no reading on my gauge, and no oil out of my turbo feed line. My turbo feed line comes off the oil filter housing (TR Customs Turbo Saver). Not sure what I should do next. Pull the cam sensor and prime the system with an oil pump priming tool (small block Chevy I read would work), or does the pump need to be pulled apart and packed with grease or Vaseline to create suction to start the oil flow. Let me know guys, thanks!

I would try removing the cam sensor and priming with the tool and drill first. It may take 10 minutes to get good oil out of all the rockers.

Just remember to run the drill in reverse, CCW. Otherwise, you'll be blowing air into the oil and will never get a prime.

Dave, will it really take that long to build oil pressure? I just got the priming tool, will have to se how long it takes!

Nick

i was told it was clockwise and it only takes a few minutes but i did the prime for 15 20 minutes and couldnt get anything when are u gonna try it 6

Ihave, I am going to try in the morning, just bought a priming tool from Autozone. If John says CCW, then you can bet that's right. If anyone wants to verify direction, just pull the cam sensor cap off, and turn the motor over. While I prime, I will try to get to get my brother to turn the motor.

he is correct have done it many times, would also be a good idea to have a guage that can be looked at while doing this. Another way with out gauge is to pull a valve cover and watch until you have oil coming out of the rockers. It may not shoot, may just dribble but if you do it this way make sure that ALL of the rockers are getting oil not just one or 2. Also, if you mark where the cam sensor is pointed you do not have to go through setting the cam sensor if you dont turn the motor over.

One thing that may help is packing the oil pump with grease or vaseline. You will have to remove the oil filter, oil cooler feed assembly, and the pump cover to do this. Then just as Dave suggested, prime the engine with a drill. After your drive the car a bit, I would change the oil and filter. Feel free to respond if you have questions.

Good luck and God bless,
Paul Lohr

No need for a gauge. It's obvious when the pump primes. You will feel load on the drill.

OK, I was able to prime it with the tool and get pressure. The correct direction is CLOCKWISE. When I spun it CCW I got nothing but worried. Spun it clockwise, and it was pouring oil out of the turbo feed line within 5 seconds. I primed it for another minute or so while turning the engine over, and all is good! Now I have to figure out why it wont stay running, but I will start another thread for that. Thanks again!
