Ok, So I get in the car this morning to start it and she won't start. I did check fuel pressure and I have none, I also do not hear the pump cycle on to build pressure and my fuel gauge, (digital dash), reads -- and then comes up with E and the tank was filled last night. My guess is that the sending unit and the fuel pump get power from the same relay and it failed. The car also has a hotwire kit on it, I have not had any time to look at anything that could cause my problem and I was in a hurry to get to work so I took the wifes car. Does this sound like the correct diagnosis, also where is the factory fuel pump relay located? I may just buy a new relay to try, does anyone know if caspers hotwire kit uses the same relay as the factory one.
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

With both of these acting dumb, I would check all connections to the tank. Also are you sure some one did not siphon the gas out? I know it sounds strange but could be the culprit. Sounds like the tank is empty. You may want to check it.

I think I lost power back by the tank also. I dont think the tank was siphoned because the pump does not make any noise when the key is turned to the accesory postion. With gas prices going up again I wouldnt put stealing gas past some kids, or even some adults. Thanks for the input.

Check the fuse for the hot wire. Follow wire coming off of the back of the alternator. It should be about 12 inches away from there.

Also might need a new relay. If you have a volt tester. Check to see if you have current in front of the relay (stock harness) and then after (in hotwire relay).

I had a bunch of stupid problems with my fuel system, so I've done almost all the tests. If you need any extra info, shoot me and email to DCVING6@aol.com

P.S. If your still looking for a cat back system- I'm selling my Hooker 2.5" dual system. ;)

OK, so I get home yesterday and the car starts fine and has fuel pressure and the gas gauge now reads full. I did replace the F/P relay under the hood just in case. I noticed something kind of weird though, my scanmaster said I had a code 44, cracked ds header, and now the code is gone like the power was removed from the ecm. Could this happen with a bad ground? If so looks like I need to start checking to make sure all of them are good.

DCVING- picked up an exhaust from a friend that was going to 3". Thanks

When you start getting eerie electrical problems, the first place to start is the grounds. Check the ones on the passenger side head going to the body and such. This is strange and where I would start to look first.

Thanks, I did not check there yet but I did make sure to clean up the firewall and check those grounds. Is there a good way to get at the back of the head? It looks like I will need to move the loom out of the way and possibly pull the valve cover, any other tips?
Thanks
Dave
