Just wondering if you guys are using your dust shield that covers the flywheel and converter. Any downsides to not using it? Seems that the tranny may run cooler without this shield. What do most guys do, run with it or without it?

Brad

I use it, have bought cars before that it was missing from. don't know why. i figure it keeps crap from getting in the starter.

I don't have one. I've been told by a reputable source that it promotes heat soak of the starter. And since I broke off 3 of the four bolts that hold it on, and I'm too lazy to drill them out, I just leave it off. HTH

You`re right if you`re running a stall it`ll help keep the fluid cooler, I ran my previous cars without it, but then I never had them out in any nasty weather either. I`m looking into a stage car now that was built by Conley, and he recommends not running one for just that reason.

The only thing that cover does is keep in the heat!! Leave it off. Been driving mine without it for ten years, and have NOT noticed any extra dirt or ??? Your choice, but don't understand why you would want all that heat???;)

Mines been on 15 along with the tranny cooler.

I just like to argue with Ken. :D

I had mine off this weekend on salvageV6, if you saw the sand stuck on it from the oil you might think twice about keeping it off.

Lotsa sand and salt and crap to get up in there. :(

Takes longer for the oil to build up and leak too. ;)

Daily driver.
