My cruise control doesn't work. It is getting vacuum but that's all I know. Does anyone have a checkout procedure? Thanks for any help.

Hi Kevin-

I am having the same problem, but am working on other priorities.

I do not have the wiring diagram or factory flow chart procedure, so cannot tell you how to properly diagnose it. But, in the spirit of pointing you in the right directions, I can offer a little info that might help.

Based on some preliminary research, the CC involves the following:

Since you believe you have vacuum, I assume the CC diaphragm is not leaking.
Brake pedal switch
A servo that operates the throttle (do not know where it is located)
A speed sensor located on the tranny (I believe on one end)
The column switch
A transducer (do not know where it is located)
The module itself (on the left front fender)
Fuse in the fuse block

My understanding is that shops have a diagnostic tool they hook up between the module and wiring harness to diagnose which component(s) are not functioning.

I will probably do some more Net searches on component locations and diagnosis. If I remain stuck, I will call some local shops and find out how much they will charge to diagnose...then I will fix it myself.

Hopefully, someone else with more specifics will chime in here.

Let us know how you finally solve the problem.

Steve

i had the same problem my switch on the brake needed pushed out a little because it kept the switch in so the cruise would not come on as if i was hitting the brake
