Hey Guys, I need some help. I went to go pick up my car from the paint shop and it wont start. Its not getting fuel. When you turn on the key, you normally hear the car pressurizing the fuel system. Well, there is no sound. I changed the fuel relay and that didnt work. When I brought the car to the painter, we took off the bumpers, door panels, etc but thats about it. The fuel pump has a connector that was screwed onto the rear bumper ( which was painted on the back side. I ground the area down where this connecting block screws onto, thinking that block may have to be grounded but that didn't help. Does that even effect anyhting? I am clueless where else to check. Is there some connector that may be disconnected? Is it the ECM, fuel pump, or something like that? I checked the IGN/Fuel fuse and its fine. Any idea where to start to dig? The huel pump is a fairly new Walboro so I woldn't think that would be bad. It has a Hotwire kit but I didn't see anything loose. PLease help I need to get this car home. Thanks a lot guys!! -----Jeremy

My guess is your problem is at rear bumper area.Bad connection, loose or missing grd.Blown hotwire fuse if equipped.

If your car is hotwired, check the inline fuse on the wire to the alternator. Also make sure your ecm is plugged in. It's the orange wire by the battery. The hotwire fuse could be near the alternator.

OK I did check the ECM plug an it is plugged in. The hotwire fuse will be around the alternator?? Not to throw us off but another observation is that when we were cranking the car over, the ground wire coming from the negative terminal to the fender, I belive its a #10, was getting hot as we cranked on it. Have any of you had this problem before? Wouldn't you think the rear bumper would get a ground, even though it is painted, through the 8 bolts that mount the bumper to the pad?

the same damn thing happened 2 me turned out to be the relay that the hot wire kit carries at back of car the where u connect it to the fuel pump

Was the problem in the connecting block? Did you hear the system charge at all?? I have to get this car out of the painters shop!!!!!!! Thanks for the help guys!!! You guys are great!

Follow the hotwire from the tank to the front. There should be an in-line fuse somewhere. It sounds like the hotwire is shorting out somewhere.

The thing that is throwing me off is that the car ran great 6 months ago when I brought it to the painter. It has not been driven at all, simply parked, dismantled for paint, unplugged the battery, and put back together. Now it doesn't prime??

1. check the hotwire fuse and the original fuelpump fuse on the fuse block.

2. jump the relays two heavy wires with a paperclip and see if the pump turns on...if not then the problem is the pump or its grounds. if it does turn on, its the ecm or the relay/ relay socket.

this is very basic, if neither work, we can get more detailed.

clean the engine and body grounds.

Make sure that the flat plug at the gas tank is not disconnected, this is the plug that gets disconnected when pulling the gas tank, it is in the bumper area, good luck.
