ok quick question here

theoretically if a car was getting knock

how can you distinguish if its octane or not enough fuel pressure?

whats the max pressure you should bring it to before deciding its not the fuel pressure causing the knock but the octane of the gas?

thanks

Carl

with today's pump gas, if you get knock, you are out of octane at any boost level 14 lbs and up....fuel pressure will not save you (less timing or more octane may....)

Knock can be caused by a lot of things, not enough fuel volume, to much, oil in the intake track, and not enough octane just to name a couple of things. Try to lower intake charge temps also, the cooler the air going in the cooler it will be in the bore. To answer you ?'s turn up fuel pres 1 to 2 lbs up to 50 lbs line off to check if it is oct or fuel pres. But Woody is probably right, fuel today is like horse piss amazing they run at all.
