I was going over the engine bay today and noticed my gasket for my plenum/plenum spacer is leaking and there is oil residue spread out on the intake side of the plenum casting...
My pt54 turbo was rebuilt by Mease in mid-October 2002 with new turbine wheel shaft assembly (John Craig), 360 Dynamic Thrust Kit (John Craig), Piston Ring (John Craig) and Dynamic seal (Robert Blouch Turbo).
the te44 I had on previous blew a little bit of oil...
Could the intercooler be to blame for maybe holding some oil? Or should I seriously suspect the turbo?
I've had the plenum off before since having this turbo on it, and there was a noticeable oil sheen and droplets on the plenum. Even after a few days of running Mease's proto-type aluminum-sheetmetal plenum and taking that off, there was a noticeable oil sheen/drips on that too.
Any suggestions?
