I took my car into the shop to get it leak tested and they said i have gas in my oil and its eating my gaskets so i havnet driven the car since i am getting new injectors and going to change those out when they get in. And if thie gas in the oil claim is true what else could that do to my engine. They only told me not to change any gaskets until the injectors are fixed its leaking out of the oil pump and the intake from what they told me please any help here from someone who has had the same problem and or knows about it

if you have

gas in your oil then your BLM #'s are at 150 plus. That means the computer is sensing lean & is dumping fuel at max rate. You have a vac leak or some fuel problem. I.E. a bad or weak pump, low volts to the pump, dirty or bad injectors, rotted vac lines or missing. The blm should be around 128. Do you have a scanmaster? If not you need one & the ability to tune. The fuel breaks down the oil within a couple hundred miles & allows the bearings to ride closer to the metal of rods & crank. Less viscosity or none at all. This will wear things out & eventually cause knocking & failures.

they told me that the injectors were leaking on idle and i needed to replace them first. i am going to do that but wondered if there was anything special i needed to do in order to change them im just putting stock injectors back on

?

make sure the o rings are good. Find someone who is a buick specialist that can help you & get you straight. Dont trust idiots that have an uncle that used to know a guy who was a buick specialist at the dealer back in 87. Most the time people talk out of their ass :frown:

Forgive me for hijacking, but if you don't have a scanmaster how can you tell that there may be gas in the oil (crankcase)?

Can you see it, or maybe smell it? Probably the latter of the two?

Just asking because I have never heard of this before.

gas in oil

you will smell a very strong stinch of gasoline when you pull the dipstick. The oil will be dilluted by it. When you drain it the oil will not only be broken down but more liquified :(

oil

i took it to a buick dealership with hopes that somebody would know about the cars b/c i cant find anybody else who does around me and they tested the oil or some crap i dunno i just wanted them to find the leaks cuz i couldnt tell where it was comming from and they told me all this sstuff

Thanks for the info. Now I will know if I ever have that problem.

Cory,
Sorry to hear of your problem. Injectors are easy to change, once you get the fuel pressure down. Personally, I try to shy away from the dealership with my Buick. There isn't a mechanic at my local dealer that is any older than I am. I don't think any one of them knows anything about these cars. It's something you just have to judge. If you can smell the gas, like Wes stated, they may be right. Otherwise, you may want to find a second opionion. I don't understand how an injector can leak at idle. It's supposed to be spraying fuel when the car is running anyway.
Good Luck!

What Wes said is

True! Some times garbage or shellac residue can hold open an injector. It will pour fuel in and can wash down the cylinder walls and wipe out the rings and worse cut into the cyl. walls! Just ask me, I got the T-shirt! :o
