my engine oil has a bit of a gasoline smell to it, mind you not overwhelming, but its there. I eliminated my knock problem (new injectors) and fixed my cracked header (new header). How detrimental is this to my engine? don't all internal combustion engines have a little gas leakage into the oil? how concerned should i be?the car seems to run good and all numbers look great on scanmaster, including the blm's (127 @ idle/engine warm). where else should i be looking and is it possible to totally eliminate this?

Oil is cheap. Is your PCV connected?

Yes, pcv is connected and functioning. New valve installed. Is there really any "perfect" system in an engine? I guess what i mean is that is it really possible to stop all traces of gasoline from entering a crankcase? The car does not smoke that i can see. It does have some vapor out tailpipes during warm up on a cool morning, but it goes away. I'll bet if everyone was to pull the dip stick and take a wif, you would probably detect a faint odor of gas. Anybody willing to do so next time you check your oil, please chime in and let me know if you smell anything. It would really ease my mind! :)

Oil in the gas is bad and not normal. That condition will take out the rear thrust bearing surface first, cam lobes wipe, cylinders will wear on the bottoms, etc. A leaking injector, remanufactured ECM, shorted injector wire on the EGR, excessive fuel pressure for the chip, or any number of things can cause it. Usually not easy to find but you must. Until then, keep that oil changed. Sorry not to ease your mind. Just be glad you found the symtom and hopefully not too late. For some reason, TRs seem to be more prone to having this problem.
