? is it possible to over tighten them. I changed them and rod 2mos ago,but i noticed that around town oil is around 40lbs,driving to work 10miles starts out at 40lbs then oil starts to drop steadly to 20lbs.I've been using clevite and this is the 3rd time i loose oil pressure and it's always the mains. will be changing again but will use federal mogal this time.when i put them on torked to 100lbs and extra 1/4 turn.should i have not done that? when engine revs oil pressure does rise accordingly.any suggestions?

Are you talking idle oil pressure? How much at 2000 rpm? More details of your "problem" are needed. Normal to lose oil pressure as the oil becomes hot. Just because your engine temperature shows normal after a few minutes, does not mean your oil is up to operating temperature.

Aye, Carumba. That'ssssssalotta torque. 100 Ft/Lbs means 100 Ft/Lbs. An additional 1/4 turn could be as much as 20 Ft/Lbs, once you've cinched them down that tight.

What did you use to lubricate the threads during assembly? Oil? Moly/ARP lube?

On the flip side, they're already in. Just enjoy the ride. If they go again, I'd SERIOUSLY consider a line-hone and new bolts/studs. Clevites are great, and should last as long as your engine, if properly installed and lubricated.

Good luck.

well changed them again, sure enough to tight. luckly didnt hurt crank. used F/M this time around I'll see how they work out.
