Steve Y. MaxEffort R. It's a little more than a "chip". Do a search on "mafless"...

The regular ME is also open loop from what I hear. A good bit cheaper, but you'll have to run your MAF with it. ME-R is mafless and -steep-.

Just to be clear, open loop means no feedback from an oxygen sensor.

Are you looking for a completely open loop chip, or only open loop at idle, or a setup that does not use an MAF sensor?

just to be "clearer", ALL chips run in open loop at WOT (ie no feedback from 02 sensor)

Steve's is the only "chip" to date that does not require a maf

No one else makes a NO MAF + Open loop chip? Steve and his ME is an EXCELLENT chip. But I sold mine to get a DFI Gen VII system. I am now looking for a NO MAF + Open loop chip to get me by till spring when I purchase my GEN VII DFI.

Steve is the man.......only DFI's like you are getting work w/o the maf

nobody else that I am aware of

2nd gen? what? you just came out with the stinking me-r, what's up with the 2nd gen one? I haven't even gotten used to this one!

False.
Folks can rewrite the code and do MAFless stock ecms.
Steep learning curve involved, and lots of work but it has been done.

Some chips, ie stockers, use a learned correction, some chips use a WOT BL lock.

And no, you can DIY a MAFless ecm, just need to rewrite the code to do it.

Sure you could DIY a MAFless ecm, but it wouldn't be open loop that I could imagine, unless you basically recreated steve's ME-R setup and used a MAP. Maybe I'm wrong but it seems like you just can't get there from here.

just to clarify..again...open loop means no 02 feedback/correction to the ecm

(Note to Bruce.......no commercially available chip I know of allows on the fly 02 correction at WOT.......certainly FAST, et al + a wideband does)

lots of "open loop" chips out there ( the Thrasher chip idles in open loop....)

only one "mafless" chip that I know of available for purchase.....Steve's (other than "DFI" systems)

LOL for some reason I didn't see Curt's reply before I made mine.

I went back and deleted mine.

You need a MAP input for me to be able to fix you up to get by till you get the Gen 3.

You sell the computer? I had an extra one but lent it out. Maybe Ted will loan you his for the time being, and we can get you going :)

I've done it.
It has nothing to do with anything anyone's done before.
It works.

(Note to AZGN, so what?)

So steve, stop leaving us hanging? What improvements are in the next gen ME-R? Better documentation maybe? :P

More documentation? Then you would have more to fiddle with and get in trouble with :)

The new gen has the X factor built into it :-) Can't say much about it now but it will be an improvement for guys that run 10.30 and faster.

Also you can blow the MAP line off with it at WOT and it won't miss a beat. It happens and this will protect you.

Steve
