Been a while since I’ve posted, so here is the question, at idle the temp is approx 175 degrees, driving it routinely goes to 195-210 degrees. Radiator is full, electric fan. You through PLEASE. Do I need to be concerned?

That’s the 1928 Essex Super Six with 79 Buick 3.8l turbo. That should be “ thoughts please”

What temp thermostat are you running??? I have a 160 in mine, and car never gets above 175 even on the hottest days.

Then I would think something is going a bit south, you shouldn't be running 195-210, even with my factory fan, not duals, car never got above 175, dual fans just cooled it quicker.

@Reapersgbodys....important to note that your cooling temp max of 175 is due to the TT chip turning on the fan (or fans) at 166F by default.

by comparison, the stock '87 chip has fan on low speed at 208F if vehicle speed less than 45 mph or if the A/C is switched on. high speed relay does not come on until 226F as sensed by the temp override switch and A/C pressure switch.

@dmarx......how is your electric fan controlled. thinking you have an aftermarket electric fan setup with a couple of temperature setting potentiometers for low and high speed. could the dial settings gotten moved? or better to verify fan operation at the dialed-in setpoints. temp sensors OK?

does the engine still have the upwards T-stat outlet or did that get modded for fitment into the '28 Essex? wondering about any trapped air by the thermostat. in horizontal thermostat applications, the suggestion is to drill a 1/8 hole at 12 o'clock orientation to purge any air pocket trapped about the flange of the T-stat. but don't believe that has any effect on the arrangement of a draw-thru manifold outlet.
