I have a booster electric fan on my trans oil cooler (Perma-Cool). I need to add a thermo switch to turn it on and off, but don't know what the optimum "on" temp should be.

Thanks - Greg

Bruce from PTS always said fluid should be as cool as possible.

I'd set the fan temp. switch at 200* F.

Just guessing though.....

I would turn it on earlier than that.

I would set it for 170-185 . Depending on where you live, lets say where temp is no colder than 20 degrees or so yes cooler is better. Now you will be the one that lives in Alberta or someplace that it is 20 below. :D LOL..

That would be too cold. But I like to see temp between 160-200 and no more.

I have mine on a relay - when the radiator fan comes on, the cooler fan comes on. I also run the xmission fluid to the external cooler first & then to the radiator cooler (on very cold mornings, the tranny will not shift right until the temps are up).

Thanks. I can get a 170* thermostat switch, so that looks like what I'll go with. As for too cold, if it's 20* the car will stay in the garage as there is no heater in it (but it will have AC).
