My racegate leaks where the gate meets the exhaust housing.
This is a year and a half old.
Turbonetics told me to throw it out and buy a new one.
A $390.00 part to last a year and a half.
They wont sell parts to fix it.
TURBONETICS SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone else have one that leaks?
If so how did you fix it??

Richie

Richie, can you take it apart and have the leaking part remachined flat ?

The stainless mounting plate looks to be warped.
I think if i took it off and straighten it out, it will make it weaker.
They wont even sell me a new exhaust elbow for it.

Leaks? You don't have something right. Are you using high temp RTV on the mating surfaces? Is everything flat? All that would need to be done is a resurface and you should be good to go. Love my Racegate!

It is not leaking where it meets the down pipe.
It is leaking where the racegate is mounted to the exhaust elbow.
There is a metal mounting platform thet is held on with 4 alan head bolts from inside the gate, this is where it leaks.

Best advice... Call Jack Cotton! He has replacement parts for them. Maybe it is the diaphragm? He can fix it for you or work as a go between with Turbonetics to get it resolved. This is what I would do if I was at the point it sounds like you are at.

Richie,

Can you call me at the shop, maybe I can help you. Unfortunately, Turbonetics has chosen the path of most other wastegate producers, they are not repairing or selling parts for the older gates. Being a master distributor for Turbonetics, I am trying to work out something different for the end user. I have to say, it is unusal for any problems with these wastegates.

That's sad to hear.

Jack,

Other than the diaphragm what else fails on them? I think the seat may have to be surfaced too right? Don't they get a taper to them where they don't seal properly after some time? What replacement parts can still be gotten for them? If you think we may hit a time where you can't get any parts to rebuild them maybe I SHOULD PHONE YOU to get a couple of spares. Is Tial the same way with their gates? Some supplier must make spare pieces that can be bought.

Jesse,

We took care of Richie, normally we have no problems with the Racegates, but then, we all know how that goes.... sheeeeit happens. As for any other gates out there, Tial included, I know of no parts repair or replacement parts available. HKS and others all fall into the same category. I am working on getting parts here and doing repairs in the future should anyone have problems.
Hope this takes care of Richie and any other question that anyone else may have.
One more point.... it isn't necessary to slam a product when one isn't happy, ya just have to know who to calll... I don't blame Richie for being pissed, he spoke with a rude individual tech from T-netics, which I also plan to take care of. Sorry Richie for that.

This problem is being resolved through Jack Cotton.
I should have called him first before this post started.
Thanks for your help!!

Cottons cust service is by far the best!

Thats great I am going to buy my stuff through JC now. Wish some of the other vendors we have dealt with would treat us this way.

Richie,
A local NC GN owner had the same issue but with a richard lee gate external gate. We solved the problem by welding a 2" long bellows pipe in between the flange that runs back into the downpipe. Now you have a flexible pipe that when the SS expands the bellows pipe will move with the gate and not cause a bind. Ever wonder why it the stock drivers side manifold cracks, most of the time, as opposed to the passenger side. Passenger side does have bellows that do help with heat expansion. Cheap fix is you do not want to spend the $$$ on another wastegate.. HTH
