Hi everyone,

I am looking for the part number for an original 1987 AM RADIO RPO U63. Trying to determine if the radio that i found has the correct part number according to the year. If someone has a photo of the radio for 87 please feel free to email it to me.

Thank you kindly.

Have a good one

Michael

Here's a list of all the part numbers I have for the U63 radio in a 87 Regal. One of these numbers should be on the little paper tag that usually falls off after about 10 years or so. If by chance one of these isn't on there post what numbers are and I'll see if I can track it down that way.

Thank you Eric,

I managed to match the number with part # 16018430. The serial number is #1180940. The package number is #997314. Is this radio correct for a 1987 Buick Regal. It is on Ebay. It states that it is a NEW MODEL DELCO GM AM RADIO - 5 CHANNEL PUSH BUTTON RADIO. Can i switch radios fom another GM radio? Are the plug in's the same?

Please let me know. I would like to purchase this radio. Cannot seem to find it anywhere. Was this common to see a 87 regal with code we2 and code u63. I've always seen gn's with cassettes. I would like to try and match what is on my pro list by having the original am radio. I purchase my gn with a delco (gm) eq radio cassette. Seems like i have a problem with it. The radio was swapped by the dealership at the request of the original owner for a cassette. The drivers front speaker on the dash does not seem to work properly. It is very low and would like your opinion on how to fix this. I have a spare gm speaker that i bought years ago. Tried changing it but still no luck. there is a wiring problem probably when they sapped radios. I noticed that at night time, the illumination on the radio lights up very weak only when i turn on the radio. Why does this happen? It should light up when the lights are turned on for night tome driving should illuminate.

Anyhow, I plan on making the swapp and fixing this minor issue. Please let me know what you think. You are very knowlegable in gm part #'s and info on the g-body's. Two thumbs up for you pal.

Hard to say if it is really correct. The reason for all of those part numbers is because after a few months Delco would consolidate some numbers. They would have to stock less radios in other words. For example, Buick had their own model,Chevy had their own model, etc. That number you have replaces all of them. Hard to say if it has the Buick face or the Chevy face. Its kind of a generic application now. That 997314 would be the part number that a dealer would order if they wanted to add that radio to a car. You could have any of the above part numbers in that box. Usually the Buicks had some type of fancy trim plate and the lower budget lines like Chevy and Pontiac would be plain looking. Take the equalizer radio for instance. The Buick version had a chrome line around the border and the Chevy and Olds had no chrome line. And the Cadillac had an orange power on button with different knobs. All of those were replaced with whatever was left in stock up in Kokomo. BTW my cars eat those equalizer recievers like crazy. I have them in just about everything and I'm lucky if I get 5 or 6 years out of them. Its much easier to piece a Buick spec one using junkyard recievers.
