I am posting this info because I am appalled that ANY shop would commit fraud, charge for work not done and WAY overcharge for work they "allegedly" performed.

I am so pissed that I want the world to know that Loper's Service Center in Phoenix is NOT the place to bring any motor vehicle, and I am sure you will agree when I list items from the original invoice in my possesion what they charged a local GN owner.

The vehicle is a 1985 GN that had been converted to intercooled before this customer purchased it. He asked for some simple performance mods not to exceed $1500. His bill total was $3270.30.

Here are some of these items, and I have added my comments:

Parts:

CRYO plugs......................$5.88 each [these are Accel plugs]
Synthetic oil.......................$14.95 a quart
HIPO fuel Pump................$421.66
HIPO fuel regulator...........$178.98

Labor items:

Analyze complete.............................................$157.50 [the ALDL connector was NOT accessible or useable]
Calculate heat range for plugs & install............$312.50
Replace fuel pump ...........................................$250.00
Replace fuel regulator.......................................$178.00
Clean FI system complete,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,$156.25
Calibrate fuel injectors......................................$250.00
Recalibrate Mass Air meter..............................$250.00 [not possible?]
Tune ECM for max performance......................$500.00 [Biggest fraud item of all, the chip is so old it was not readable?]

Final insult is the invoice states vehicle: 1999 Buick, but the correct VIN is shown?

Hopefully many of you that see this travesty will take it to any social media and other forums to warn others not to do business with these crooks and con artists.

Wow what a bunch of crooks. I just visited their website and found this statement (see photo).

Nick, will the owner take legal action?

Nick you should work with a local tv news station, have them undercover bring in a tr that your familiar with requesting a "tune up" of some sort, then you can verify the work done item by item and point out the rip offs..
I have family that lives out that way and will be
letting them know about this, thanks..

That wouldn't be Johnny Loper's place, would it? AIRC, he was an old timey drag racer, and at 1 time, had a fairly good rep.
If it is the same guy, he's surely become a total loser.
The charge to "calibrate the injs", is a laff, NOT.
Sad that folks get the weenie like that.

Chuck, that shop was part of Loper's Speed Shop, but it was farmed out to the current scumbag years ago.

Johnny Loper and I were friends for years, but sadly he passed away a few years ago.

This is not the first GN owner ripped off by this shop, but never have I ever seen such a blatant criminal fraud such as this ever.

Since I am not the "injured party", I am not able to file a consumer fraud claim with the state Attorney's office , but will encourage the owner to do so.

Sounds like a plan. The injured could ask his atty to retain you as an expert witness. You'd still get a shot at this dirt bag, this way.

I did this a few ago. Was a BMW shop that put an engine together w/ parts that were full of glas beads. The beads were from the powder coating shop.
Needless to say, the "Bimmer bunch" took it in the wallet.

Longhand obviously as it cost $312.50. Probably took four hours and an entire box of number 2 pencils. :wacky:

And damn! They had the fuel rail off to calibrate and clean the injectors and still charged $178 to install the regulator?

Damn,if they had done timing gear/chain,valve springs, spring cleaning etc.that the car probably really needed I guess the bill would have got up around 7 grand.:wtf:

I'm sure that at least 1 local tv station has a "investigative" team, that would love to set these morons up w/ a good expose'.
We have an "I Team" here in Atl. They'd be all over those guys like a cheap suit.

Just put a starter in a Chrysler Sebring for someone. They had the car at a shop for 2 weeks and all they did was put a resettable fuse in then charged $300. They said that they checked the starter and it was good. Something else was blowing the fuse and they could not find it. The starter was never pulled. It's a PITA to get it out so they decided to pop in a resettable fuse and call it good. $300 later the problem still exists. I felt so bad for the person I only charged them for the cost of the starter. $120. I ate the labor. Luckily it only took about a hour.

I see it all the time. I get cars that have been to multiple shops and dealers and never get fixed. They charge a good buck to do absolutely nothing. Not easy to find someone who's is honest and knowledgable. Specially with the Turbo Buicks but it can happen to any car. The biggest problem is that mechanics are not mechanics any more. If a computer can't tell them what to do, they are lost.

Did you mean box of #2 crayons? as their care taker doesn't allow them to have sharp objects.
