Isnt that going to change my compression ratio? The TRW's i have the complete concave shape w/o the valve reliefs.

I think that is an optical illusion

different style of dishes. The Diamonds, my custom 4.1L 3.995" bore pistons look identical, use whats called a reverse reflector dome type of a dish that lends itself, supposidly, to better chamber mixing but make for a potentially thinner piston crown. The stock style, TRWs in your case, use an inverted dome that creates more uniform piston heating and allows for a shallower total dish with the same volume and a thicker crown. Personally I love my Diamonds but any good quality piston is probably equally likely to work in a performance application, leave the knitpicking to the guys with full race jobs.

hmmmmm. I dont know if i like that thin crown on the diamonds. Un-even heating doesnt sound like a good thing either. Could lead to possible detonation and hot spots. I think im going to go with JE or Wiseco. Who knows. Unless someone has some hard facts about which one out performs the other, its still up for grabs for all 3 makes.

The Diamond style is designed to reduce detonation. It is patterned after the chamber in the head. A little more technology that just a bowl in the top of the piston

Here is a Diamond S2 piston. All the sharp edges polished smooooooth and glass beaded!

Looks good. What did you blast it with? Looks very fine like wallnut shells.

...PLUS, I'm pretty sure the Diamonds were machined from TRW forgings, which don't expand as much as Ross or Wiseco, so you can set them up a little tighter for less noise.
