So I added a m1911 to my collection today. Question for you 1911 guys. The top is stamped "model of 1911.US Army" on one side and the other has 5 dates and the colt stamp. See pics. And the bottom is stamped "Essex arms corp island pony vt 17983". Are those essex bottom's a common replacement or something?

I agree with u man, guns dont kill people stupid fucks kill people.. But idk.. Like i said i wouldnt have asked about my guns. Not today..

hard to tell from your pictures but the frame is Essex. I would consider essex a decent mid grade part maker, below caspian and wilson. Hard to put a solid value on a custom gun. I bought a caspian for $650 and had to polish/fit the extractor for $30...so $680 for a peiced together caspian / WWI colt in perfect condition. Cheapo rock island armory goes for $500 these days but a new ruger SR1911 can be bought for $700.
