Ok, here we go. I got my car with 63000 miles on it a month ago. Great condition, perfect interrior, the guy kept a log book of everything. It ran GREAT until NOW. 1st. I started to here a grinding, shrieking, swirling, rubbing noise under the wood. Loud enough to hear in the car. It sounded like a heat shield or something is rubbing? It ussually went away after the car got warm or I started to drive it. Now it back and really loud at idle and driving. I cant figure out where its comging from.

2nd My fan relay delay sensor is bad, so I unplugged it. Ran the car for a day and it was fine. But today while its still unplugged I got onto the freweway and noticed teh car was missing and RPMS started to go down. I looked at fuel pressure and It was LOW. Under 30. I gave it some gas and it shot back up. Then it stalled and I had to pull over to teh side. Turned the car off and tried to crank it again. Wouldnt start but did crank. I unplugged the battery then plugged it back in and started the car fine. Drove another 5 miles with no problems.

So could driving without the fan relay plugged in have casued it or should I start to worry about a bigger problem. 2nd what on earth could that grinding noise be???? I know my explanations are hard to understand but I am really frusterated right now.

may have a bad alt bearing or idler pulley bearing--grinding shrieking noise...have you done the spring cleaning? As in does it have a GOOD AC Delco fuel filter, you shouldnt loose fuel pressure unless its bleeding off somewhere OR you filter is clogged. Dont know about the fan delay

yes I have done most of the spring cleaning, the previousowner has maintained it really really well. I will check the fuel filter. But to me it doesn;t seem like that shouldbe the problem. I lost fuel pressure FASt not like it was clogged more like and electrical problem. So, the alternator could be bad, the sound does kinda sound like its coming from the pully area.

Oh yeah, when it stalled, most of the warning lights came on on the dash, Check engine light, low battery, and one right next to it.

Almost sounds like alternator failure. Would not only explain the ill noise, but if it's not supplying enough juice to the fuel pump that would possibly explain why you lost fuel pressure.

I checked the battery and it was only giving 13.5 volts with car running and 12-12.5 when off. Too low right...

I dont think the noise is coming from the altinator, I did the good old screw driver trick and the altinator sounded fine. So did the turbo.

Well so much for that idea (13-14 volts running is norm) Next idea: take the belt off and spin all the accressory pulleys by hand, and/or run the engine for about a minute, if nothing else you can eliminate whether it's an accessory or internal engine noise (i.e. timing chain)

Stalling was due to a poor connection under the hood. I dont know exactly what the wires controlled most likely the hot wired fuel pump.

The ratling was coming from the CAT. Probably a broken seal or something. No biggy, I just sounds really bad, louder than the exhaust at WOT. Ill swap it out with a gutted cat.

Thanks
