Before going to the track last night I regapped my NGKUR5s from .035" to .032". I lost about 2mph from last week. Dont know if this is directly related or if it was humidity/barometric pressure or what. All I know is this was the main change that I made from last time. Can anyone explain to me how/why [if this is possible] that the plug gap would effect this? Maybe adding more fuel would have been the proper route with the tighter plug gap? Trying to find out if I need to just go ahead and regap back to the .035" or if there will be benefit in leaving it where its at. Running boost in the 23~psi (have run 24) range with alky(methanol) injection & 93oct, timing @20deg.

you want as much spark exposed to the mixture as possible, so a big gap is a good thing. the reason to close the gap is if you are blowing out the spark from big boost on a poor ignition. My guess is you still had plenty of spark, and closing the gap only "hid" the spark from the mixture for you. some people even consider this to be sort of another sort of ignition retard.
