hello people; I was on the puter last night and all of a sudden warning bells and a sign comes on telling me there's a virus in my puter. I have Norton 360 and have been to that site before so I didn't know if the real or BS. So I did the virus scan and the Norton says it's clear. I just went on the puter quickly this morning and the warning is still there.
any ideas

Give it some penicillin. Some sights have nasty girls. Haha
I honestly have no idea...just joking around.

i bet if you click on the warning, it will take you to a site where you can buy something that will remove it... and of course you won't be able to close your browser or back out of the page until you agree to buy it..
clear your history and cookies and see if that gets rid of it.. otherwise you will have to figure out the name of the program and manually delete it from wherever you find it on your computer.. i haven't had to do that kind of fun stuff since i had WINXP...

Yeah you got a nasty little bug it sounds like!

You need to d/l malwarebytes and it is free. It may get it.

Last time I got one of these things I had to buy a couple of different programs to get rid of it....

Help guys told me to format and reload, I didn't give up that easy:D

My secretary used to get junk like that all the time. I'm pretty sure she kept clicking on things like "click here to claim you thousand dollar prize" and what-not. I would just google how to remove whatever popped up and look around until I found removal instructions.

sounds like you have the anti virus virus.. I had it and what it does is makes your interent only go to their "anti virus" software page. This is a scam to get you to buy their stuff(which probalby doesnt even work). Your best bet is to save what documents/pictures you can and re install windows. then scan all your documents after

Download Microsoft Security Essentials for free from Microsoft. There are alot of sites that have malicious software out there.

My Mac doesnt have these issues...

hello people; I messed with the puter yesterday and what ever I did worked for now. I did install maylware bites and I think that did it as when I tried to go back to a prior time it didn't work.
thanks for the help
Tell me to the people with Macs. Can you go anyware on the web with no threats?

Macs are prone to virus' as well but it is a lot better.

For a PC if you use Firefox, install ad blockers, avast antivirus, all are free. You should be ok for the most part. Problem is that it's not just from the web that you can pick up stuff. You can get a virus from email, or links that you click on etc. It's really getting to the point that you have to be somewhat computer savvy to be somewhat safe. I have to reformat my Mom's computer at least once or twice a year due to her opening or clicking something she shouldn't.

Virus on MAC is very seldom. I have been working on MACs for 15 years, never had a virus. They do get some internal problems...nothing is 100%, but the newer stuff is BS free for the most part.
I try to convince people that they are better, but everyone wants a cheaper deal, which only turn out to be a bull shit festival when its all said and done.

Good luck, upgrade some day if you can.

hello; Hey RatFink so how much does a Mac cost. Years ago I was at a Mac store getting one for my neice for college and she still has it and another one.
With me I got a large sreen Toshiba. It's heavy but I don't take it out of house.
What would a larger screen Mac go for?

I think you can get a really kick ass one for $1200 - $1500. The following link shows the new machines that blow my 4 year old machine in the weeds, but mine still rocks out. Runs Adobe Primier, Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator...all kinds of multimedia stuff, so the new ones are like super bad.

you sound like my uncle...he just HAD to surf porn :)
i did this to his computer and he surfs away virus free:
1) Install Google Chrome for free...then you can go into settings and select an "incognito" window, this will not save any cookies or history by itself.
2) purchase (...not the free version) Malewarebytes protection (www.malewarebytes.com) so it's always running/protecting
3) Go porn surfing :) He isn't a computer guy but he's happy now!

You don't have to surf porn to get infected. Thought I saw a statistic that the most dangerous website for viruses were religious sites.

I clicked on a trailer ad and my kaspersky antivirus went nuts !!!!! Norton sucks kaspersky and avast work really well.....
