And,,, don't go wild on it! The first one I ever did, became a lovely flower pot when I was finished, due to my extremely liberal grinding. Be sure to mark it up with the gaskets in their installed position, and then DON'T cut outside the lines. The key here is to be extremely careful, and moderately conservative. These intakes flow quite a bit as cast, and all you really want to do is match the ports, w/o killing flow velocity. Don't try to make sharp edges on the inside either.
Cut the EGR tower out, if you haven't already. Smooth it down. Slightly clean up areas inside the intake, but spend most of your efforts around the exterior ports.
If you go too far, you'll be spending around $250 for another core, or, you'll be stuck with subpar performance.
There is truly an art and science to doing this type of work, and it's not something that you just "know" how to do on your first attempt. Leave the heavy porting for the pros, and just concentrate on a nice, clean gasket match, which you can certainly accomplish successfully.
This is merely my experiences from doing 4 of these things over the years... I found that "less is more".
