i have the motor for the power trunk release in the trunk attached to the llid but there's no button inside?

I ask b/c i have a short somewhere and I am killing myself trying to find it....i'm praying maybe this has something to do with it....but i know GM ran all the wires for everything regardless of the power options....could it just be that.....maybe ill check the RPO.....

does anyone know if this feature is on the same circuit as the power locks, int lights, power antenna, cig lighter, and memory??

Tailgate release is on the A/C fuse switched power via the ign. switch.

Footwell lights are on that fuse however.

Are all the bulbs and wiring okay for glove box light, underhood light, entry lights such as the footwell ones and the dome lamps?

Trunk light.

Pull the cigar lighter plug off the socket and tape over the orange wire so it can't short to anything and try the fuses.

How about lighted vanity mirror wiring?

Digital dash uses a feed from that circuit too.

So does the chime module box and the security lamp.

All on the '86 and '87 manual wiring diagram anyway.

i checked the RPO ssticker and my car came with the A90 power trunk release option...its wierd though....behind the glove box there is 2 ends of a black wire that was obviously cut and theres a the same gauge black wire going into the thing in the trunk as well but there's no hole for the button anywhere....it goes on the left side of the glove box right?

i popped the cig lighter out and no luck.....my hood lamp is not hooked up and i still havent checked the dome floor or trunk lamps....

maybe the hood light wire is touching something in the engine

my pass side power door lock switch does not work either....i had it all apart today but i could not figure out how to unplug it so i just left it....with my luck it was that all along:rolleyes:

salvagev6: i cant thank you enough for all your help so far....

i dont have a vanity mirror lighting but i do have t-tops and i know the wire for the dome light is in there and i was goin to check if it had any water damage...i still have a bunch of stuff to check it just got really cold out tho....can't wait for spring

the digital dash tripodometer is on that lead and that bugs out showing like 2300 or 3500 miles

and your right the chime thing is on it as well....i never noticed that until just nnow when u said that

i dont know what the security lamp is but ill have to check that out too i guess

Standard rule of thumb for me is when I disconnect a connector or cut a wire I use some Scotch 33+ electrical tape two layers wrapped tightly around it.

Will last for 100 years or so.

No cheesy fleamarket tape that will look tattered like Shakiras jeans in 3 days out in the weather. ;)

Scotch 33+ and wrap it tight, won't be too easy to get off either.

There is also a big C453 connector located at the upper LH cowl area that houses a bunch of the orange wires for those circuits off the always on Cig/Clk fuse.

Might be able to unplug or isolate the circuits at that point.

I never tried that and couldn't really tell you where that is.

I'd start by unplugging and taping up all the orange wire circuits we have mentioned so far.

Hopefully it's not a bad wire in the harness wrapped around a self tapping screw. :( Had that happen once.
