Hi everybody im new to this forum and I have a few questions about the 2004r. I am restoring a 1966 Ford SWB F100 and im dropping a Cadillac 500 into it. It has the BOP tran pattern and im wanting an overdrive in my truck. The truck weighs about 3800 lbs. Im wanting to put a 2004r behind the 500. The engine will have around 400-450 hp and a little over 500 lbs of torque. If you know anything about these engines then you know they have a lot of torque at low rpms (2.5-3.5k range) and their maxed out. Their very low reving engines. Thats awesome for my swb truck but not so good for the overdrive trans. I will never be drag racing this truck but it will be driven alot (DD). No off roading of any kind just your everyday street truck. No towing or hauling anything either. Gear ratio in the low 3's. I would like to know an estimate on the cost of trans, trans cooler, torque convertor. I know its a vague question but I would just like to have a ballpark figure. I was estimating around 4k for the transmission setup (trans, cooler, convertor). Am I way off or am I in the most likely cost range? I will most likely be buying the transmission setup from one of the vendors here on this board because from what ive read from other forums you guys are the best in the business when it comes to the 2004r. I want something that will last as long as the engine but I dont want overkill because like I said this truck isnt going to be drag raced or any other "hard driving". Any advice or information you guys can give me I would really appreciate it.
