When priming the oil pump using a drill motor, do you run the drill motor in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction?

I'm pretty sure it's clockwise. What you can do is take the oil feed line loos at the turbo, put a cup under the line and when oil spurts out you know you;re going the right way. re-connect and continue to prime for a couple of minutes.

it is clock wise. but you would know that because one way it would not prime and one way it would.

Also you will know when the oil pump starts pumping oil. The drill motor sound will change and you can feel the drill try to twist in your hand.

yes and there is a significant difference when it primes ;)

I primed mine yesterday, clockwise it is. Instead of using vasoline like I used to, I removed an oil cooler line and poured oil in that way. It primed nearly instantly, much better than the old way.

I did that once too. it seemed to work fine.

When priming with the drill, is it necessary to fill with oil or vaseline or will it prime anyway?

I coated the pump gears, etc with some oil but did not pack with vaseline and I am not using the oil cooler adapter.

you will have to pack the gears with vaseline or it will never prime even with a drill.

I will be doing this for the first time next week. Let me get this straight: you can pack with vaseling and use drill or you can pour oil into an oil line and use drill? Also, can someone take a minute to explain how you prime with the drill? I noticed that TA performance is selling a bit for this purpose. How is it done? Thanks, Chris

Fill your oil filter just about full of oil and get it on there quickly.

Fill the cooler lines with oil, well at least the one that dumps in from the top area.

Pop the turbo oil feed line off and use a clear jar, plastic preferred because you just know it's gonna fall off where precariously balanced, once or twice. ;)

Clockwise and when it spurts you are done.

I've never needed to use Vaseline...remove the top oil cooler line
from the radiator...use a small funnel...duct tape it to the line...slowly pour oil into the line until you see it coming up near the top of the funnel...spin the oil pump slowly with a drill counter-clockwise...but make sure you keep oil in the line...if you suck all the oil out you will have to start over...repeat the filling the funnel and spinning the pump until you've put about half a quart of oil in there...replace the oil cooler line then spin the pump clockwise and you should have pressure...have done it this way many times
