Proper EGT Probe Placement ??

I'm getting ready to install a set of ATR headers and want to have an EGT bung weld on before I install them. How far from the turbo should the bung be welded? I've read anywhere from 3 inches to 1 inch before. Is there a right or wrong distance or is it just preference?

I installed mine across from the O2 but a little off center so it wouldn't have any chance of interfering.

1-3 inches, is going to make about 0 difference between the two. The EGT isn't going to change that much in such a sort distance.
