The passenger side is about 120 to 140 PSI
The drivers side is about 45 to 85 PSI

Damn I was not planing on pulling the heads!

BTW, This test was done with the engine on the stand and jumper cables to the starter.

Some oil in a 80 PSI cylinder took it up to about 120.

What to do

Stupid question....Did you do the test with the engine warm?? You will get erractic readings due to the rings not being expanded with it cold.

I doubt he has it running on the stand. He was just using the starter to turn it over.

From what I remember other people telling me to get an accurate compression test you need to do the following.

Bring engine up to operating temp, which you probably can't do.
You are also supposed to have the throttle wide open (making sure injectors are not firing), disconnect computer if you have it hooked up.

I had similar problem you had. I was getting readings between 135 and 165. I was then told to do the following which I mentioned above and my results were with in the 10% limt and all cylinders were in the high 150's low 160's.
Also how many times are you cranking the motor?

Good call...Note to self, read the entire post.

I AM AN IDIOT

But I am a happy idiot!

I took the rocker shaft off the side that was giving me the bad readings! The side with the starter - where my face was had the rockers still on so they were in my face and I was only looking at the gauge from the other side. Just got pissed and walked away. Put it back on and got excellent readings!

I did later find that my cam was about to wipe. Number 3 exhaust again. The only lobe that did not have a good looking wear pattern. Measured it and it is about 1/8" smaller than the other lobes.

Oh well sorry for wasting your time - but thanks for your ideas. Moderator please delete to save bandwidth for a real problem.
