ok i have a precision vigilante muti disk 3,500 here and i know some people think this is a good converter but it has 2 problems i dont like and have heard about. i also like the PTSXtreme 9/11 Converter and i have yet to hear one negative on this converter. can someone please tell me what they think of both these converters and why i should keep one over the other. And yes i have used the search and researched both converters.

I have a pts and a pats both good- the precision i heard makes a lot of noise which didnt appeal to me.

My dad is using a PTS with good results both in his DD and the stageII car. I have a vigillante lockup and it makes noise especially when coasting. It makes the car sound like a POS with the rattling it makes. I was always searching for loose flywheel and convertor bolts to cure the problem. Didn't find the problem until I had to go with a stock convertor while the Vigillante was getting some work done. The performance is fine.

The Vig is a incredibly well build converter. Lack of "true" stall speeds to fit a given application sucks. Their way of having a 0 or 6 pump leaves alot to be desired IMO.They seem to be to loose or to tight.

On the other hand... I had great luck with the PTS 9/11 I had in the past. I would put my $$$ in this on over the Vig. :)

I've run both these converters in many different cars over the years.

With (4) different 9x11's in (4) different cars they could never get the stall correct in any of them. It was always wayyyyy too high, which meant wayyyy too inefficient until lock-up. The fastest car of these was mid/high-10's @ 126mph and let's just say the lock-up clutches didn't last very long at all!! Needless to say I don't use them anymore, since they never "worked" right for a 13-sec. car nor a 10-sec. car... for me.

Having run both 0-pump and 6-pump Vigilante's in multiple cars as well, the only down side is the noise they make at idle in park/neutral. Other than that they have worked flawless for me, many times over.

IMHO,

K.

thanks

well thanks for the info im going with the 9/11. and the reason why. is because of the damn noise they make at idle in park/neutral

I have had a tcs 9/11 converter and vigilante. The vigilante wins hands down on wot slippage locked compared to the tcs unit. The tcs will start slipping locked in 3rd at over 500 rwhp, the viglante won't but i had to remove the vigilante becuase the noise is not nice for a street car in my opinon. They can get rid of the noise now, for an extra $600-700 though.

How do they get rid of the noise and why $600-700 more

I have one of those 9/11's from Bruce @ PTS .. converter sucks  :p Melissa's street car only went 10.27 @ 132 on it :p .. oh and that wasn't locked .. Converter seems fine to us

I have a 5-disk Vigilante. My 9/11 quit working after about 5 or 6k miles. First the lockup clutch went and then the stator split. I had maybe 20 1/4-mile runs on it, locking it about half the time.

Vigilante. At least with my car, the 5 disc is quite. ( I have to really pay attention to hear the slight rattle in P/N ). Brian
