i am installing a atr double pumper on my 84 t-type but the directions say i need to find a gray wire stowed behind the alternator that is called a (technicians pump prime wire). i cant find it ,can some one please help me .does my car even have one?

If it is the same as on 86-87, then there is a black lead behind the alternator that can be use to pump fuel out of the rail, when it is connected to a hot lead. See info on pump switches here:
