I'm trying to pump out some fuel tonight using the method I've always used-- hose onto the fitting for my FP gauge that compresses the schrader valve on the rail; alternator power to lead that hot wire plugs into.

Once made, the above connection turns on the pump as normal, but I'm getting literally only a trickle worth of flow through the hose. Not even enough to flow over the fender into the can.

I didn't forget to reconnect connection at the tank, and some fuel is flowing, just a very very small amount. Once I got tired of fooling with it, FP gauge shows normal pressure and car runs fine. What am I missing?

This is the first time I've tried to pump out the fuel with a new double pumper, but I can't see how that would affect it.

thanks,
Scott

Take the schraeder valve out completely, then screw the dump hose back on. You'll get plenty then.

This technique has always worked before, but it did cross my mind that maybe the valve isn't being completely compressed-- enough to get a FP reading, but not enough to flow fuel.

Thanks. Other thoughts welcome!
