Question on VDO boost gauge install parts?

I am looking to install the VDO boost and the plastic T seems to be the wrong size. The directions say use the T to attach to the stock metal hose with the supplied larger diameter hose supplied. that works fine. But the plastic tube that was connected to the metal boost hose does not fit into the supplied T. The new supplied plastic hose that goes to the gauge looks like it will work ok as well. So is there something I am missing?

same prob I had, I got a small black zip tie and sinched it down

So they must "supply" the wrong parts with the gauge. Couldn't figure out what I was missing.
