I was at a light and guess what pulls up next to me. 2004 SRT-4 black. Guy revs it up and say's "you wanna race on green?" I said "sure what the hell?" so I rev it up a little. Light goes green I stomp it as the clutch is coming up, clutch grabs about 1700 rpm and I am spinning, he is spinning also. I hit second gear with a loud chirp (gotta love blacktop roads) and I pull him a bit more. He is at my bumper and as 5200 is approaching he is coming up along the side of my 1/4 windows. I chirp third gear and he is pulling up to my door handle. When I let off at like 75 he flew past. Then we get the next light and he says "not bad, your car did better than a Z28 I raced" then I asked him what year his neon was and he told me 2004. He says "your car would be pretty quick with some drag radials" yeah no @#%$ sherlock. I was now in the turn lane and he says "we'll have to run again sometime this summer, I've seen you around, take it easy" and he took off quickly on green.

I was surprised I even did that well against this neon. No economy car should be that quick. I pulled his ass good off the line and through 1st and 2nd but when I let off in 3rd he was reeling me in. Had we ran a full 1/4 I'd have probably been able to pull into his lane behind him. But I know those are supposed to be high 13 second cars so I am pretty impressed that my SC pulled him and made him play catch up. If we would have had traffic to deal with he might have thought I had him. It would be nice to let him wonder. I don't even know if he realizes this isn't a 5.0 under the hood.

With underdrives, a cam, headers, raised top, and bigger IC, I'd have his ass no doubts. I'm pretty happy with the SC for what it is. I still have stock maf and TB on this thing.

I didn't even look at the boost gauge, probably getting about 11-12 psi its only running 93 octane right now and I didn't put it to the floor so I don't think the bypass was completely closed, if it was I might have belt slippage. I've seen 14 psi before on pump gas, with no pinging but I think my SC belt might be slipping (there is black rubber **** all over under the hood)

Nice job man, my brother owns a srt-4, its an 03 tho, no L.S.D. Hes gotten a 13.99s @ 99mph best time. Those cars are dogs from 1st to 2nd. (you have to take off at like 1800rpms. 2nd is sluggish, but 3rd is awesome) It pulls ALOT harder in 3rd than it does in 2nd.

Overall, yes your right, no econo box should be that fast. It doesnt seem right. My brother has his Stage 2 on order, and along with that, he also got a few other goodies: Intake, exhaust, hi flow cat, larger down pipe, Azenis at all 4 corners, ECM and a Blow off valve. It increased his horsepower and torque from 215hp/235tq (stock) to 285hp/300tq (Manufactures claims). I think he will have traction problems in the azenis. He needs that L.S.D. but, its like $1,600.00 plus labor costs.

The SRT-4's are quick, and nice. However, when it comes down to the Buick, (Big ugly import car killer) it wins everytime!:D :D :D :D or well, at least IMO lol

Yeah he was probably in 3rd when he caught me.

I went back to the intersection and you could see both of our tire tracks. Mine go a few feet off the line, you can see where I hit second and third. His roll out a bit and then become jagged, might have been experiencing wheel hop. My car usually hops if I launch it too hard but I got it just right.

By the way I'm running 245/50/16's and I think he is only on like a 225/45/17 or something.

i saw one of those at the track last year. i ended up talking to the guy for a while. he was running low 15's, i think he might have gotten a 14 out of it. i was really suprised to find out he had just gotten the car a week ago. so he still didn't know how to drive it, it was bone stock, and running respectable times (5800ft, fast cars run slow:mad: )

If I would have had a GN w/ drag radials and a transbrake I'd have kicked his ass even running a stock turbo w/ a home made boost control.

Yeah i hear ya, lol, my brothers car with slicks and a 5,500-6000 rpm launch, and a good run, (shifting at 6,000 every time) he can tap the high high 12s, if he had an LSD then possably 12.8, something like that, but hes got his stage 2 parts on finialy, nice blow off valve, muwahahaa!! lol and he can beat stock WS6s SS Camaros.. and svt cobras(not sure)? Btw whats a SVT Cobra run? anyway Mopar says the Stage 2 puts the SRT-4 03' at about 13.1-13.3, on the stock tires, and the 04' can hit 12.7-12.9 with easy, due to the LSD, but imagine that with slicks lol, yeah hes trying to save up some money for the stage 3, (LARGER exhaust, no cat, bigger I/C piping and other plumbing and the new Garret T3/T4 Hybrid and another chip) The stage two puts his hp/tq from 215/245 to 270/300 from mopar's dyno sheets, not bad for 1200 bucks, i would say lol;)

Oh yeah my brother was at the car wash about 2 weeks ago, and this IDIOT who put his car on the Track, put it on wrong and my brothers tire ($285 per tire) snagged a Screw and blew, my bro was so pissed off... then the manager agreed to buy my brother 2 new tires, then when he took the tires and rims to get them mounted the place, mounted his rims...... FACE UP!!!!!!!!!!! and scratched the hell out of them...... so my brother is trying to get... $1,500.00 bucks out of them, to replace the rims. so yea,.. my brother isnt having much luck

Chances are good, if he was stock, he was running a 205/45/17.

That is a seriously small tire for the power this car puts down.

I ran one of these from a roll and a dig. From a roll it was close but I did pull on him (was a short race). From a dig it wasn't even funny, I pulled so many cars on him from the light. I must have had 6-8 cars by 70mph.

Bad driver. Most of the guys who have had them for a little
while can actually do pretty good from a dig. I took a lightly
modded Mustang out of the hole a few weeks back, much to
everyone in the car's surprise. :D

a really good drive might get 1.9-2.1 60' times... most are in the 2.2-2.4 I am very sure I am pulling low 1.8-1.7 on the street.

Oh absolutely, I wasn't arguing the dig, as much as the 6-7 lengths.

I have pulled a 2.2 as my very best... looking to better that in 2 weekends.

~castrol

well figure a 2.2 on the street to a 1.8 on the street is a good 4 cars I would think... and since I was pulling him from a roll too that gap could quickly turn to 6 cars.... makes sense

Okay... let me rephrase...

I don't doubt you beat him by 6-7, but a good driver would be a
much tougher nut to crack. That is more what I was talking about.

Last race I lost to a Rex was only about a length, with him getting
me out of the hole pretty badly, but I started pulling him in up top.

Im not a WRX... kinda...

What I was saying is that a 2.2 on the street is pretty good for an SRT. A 2.2 would get an SRT beat by 4-5 cars by me. So a good driver in an SRT wouldn't make a whole lot of diff. I was making more power judging by the race from a roll. I would guess I am making a little more power than an SRT. I think I weight the same give or take

2780lbs with full tank and spare in car no driver.

oooooooooh, durr... sorry, just assumed by your screename, and
we all know what that does.

Yeah, mine weighed in at 2,880 lbs, fully dressed, no driver.
Dynoed at 236hp/267tq last time I did it. Need to go back after
a few mods I have done.

Is that before the "bugeyes"? If so, I drooled over that car for years...

~castrol

Yea no bug eyes its the good looking Subaru. :D

4 doors, no wing, dark blue, all business. Onced tuned I hope to push mid to high 12's on the stock turbo. That should be enough to keep a smile on my face. Then I can put the pennies toward a low mile GN and shoot for 10's

One for the turns, one to scare the children
