Other than draining the coolant from the petcock where else (ie. block) are there drain plugs? Any useful advice is appreciated

if the water pump is running, the fluid will continue to come to the radiator.

There's a small plug on the drivers side of the block, a few inches below the exhaust manifold.

If you use a chemical flush: when you replace the coolant, put a pump lubricant in there with it. Flushes tend to remove all the lube from the pump seal/bearing, and promote pre-mature failure.

Also a 2nd identical plug on the passenger side, if one wanted to drain as much coolant as possible from block & heads (without the engine running).
