Just recently replaced my radiator. Local radiator shop advised me that the 86-87 GN radiator is the same as a 84 Old Cutlass 3.8l. They had one and it's exactly the same. Installed and now it's running 25 degrees cooler than the old one.

I just checked with AutoZone. Same part # for the 87 GN and the 84 Olds Cutlass w/ 3.8l. Part number is #433569 $89.99 2 row.
I wasn't for sure if the guy was trying to pull one over on me or not. I haven't physically compared the old to the new unit thats available at AutoZone. I'm just stating what the Radiator shop advised and the part numbers that AutoZone has listed are the same. So, before you purchase, double check.

And yes, it has both the tranny and engine oil cooler built in. All threads are identical.

Came with oil and trans coolers in the same location?

Sounds like a great deal, good find if so.

I don't know but Im guessing the cutlass rad has th etrans cooler but NOT th eengine cooler. Why would it have an engine cooler for one year normally asperated v6??
but if Im wrong its a GREAT find!

the only one I have ever dealt with that is the same that is the same is the buick diesel radiators.
From the 80's I think the b-bodies and maybe the g-bodies..

Not sure. I arrived at a local radiator shop (whole in the wall) and ask the guy if they could fix a leak. I had too many high pressure leaks and it would have cost me a bundle. They guy ask me what it was out of and he stated that they put the same radiator in the 84 Old Cutlass. He brought one from the back that was brand new. Same size fittings, same locations and had both the engine and tranny cooler.

I looked at Autozone and they have the same part number, listed in above thread, for both the 84 Old and 87 GN.

Not sure so I would double check before purchasing.

Check the fin count per inch and the width of the rows(look w/ cap off and u can see if one is a little wider), the # of rows and size.

maybe you have stumbled on to something

Lotsa cars have engine oil coolers without forced induction. Tho not many are built into the radiator. LS1s have them, Police Interceptor Crown Vics, etc.

I would wonder why a non HD application would have a cooler, though. But '84 was when they were making diesels - maybe they just put the oil-cooler equipped rads in everything? Good find either way.

I don't think they are the same..here are the specs for a turbo -regal.....

Core Size: 26-5/16 X 16-7/8 X 1-9/16

Inlet Header: 3 X 18-3/4

Outlet Header: 3 X 18-3/4

Inlet Connection: 1-5/16 - 1-9/16 DUAL DRIVERS SIDE

Outlet Connection: 1-9/16

Transmission Oil Cooler: 8-1/2 (2 PLATE)

Engine Oil Cooler: 8-1/2 (3 PLATE)

Mounting: TOP CRADLE/BOTTOM CRADLE

Notes: THREE ROW, BRASS TANKS/COPPER CORE (ALL METAL

The Go/Dan (GDI) 433569 is a smaller radiator, it uses a 20.75" wide core whereas the the 87GN uses a 26.375" wide core. The standard V6 Regals, 84 GNs, and mid-year 85 GN's use the smaller radiator. Mid-year 85 through 87 GN's and V8 Regals use the bigger radiator.

The GDI 433569 is also a 2-row 1.25" thick core.

The GDI 433162 is a standard 3-row, correct size, 2" thick core, with only the tranny cooler.

The GDI 433858 is a standard 4-row, correct size, 2.625" thick core, with only the tranny cooler.

The GDI 432397 is the aluminum 1-row, 1.375" thick core, for the F-body. It has engine and trans coolers but one of them is on the driver's side.
