I'd like to hear of some known good replacement radiators for the GN/T-Type running front mount intercooler. Also, is it better to run transmission lines to separate cooler? If you can, please supply part numbers for radiators. Are aluminum radiators really that much better than copper? Trying to get ready for summer Thanks in advance

BE COOL

Be Cool all the way!!!! Yes Al radiators are worth every cent. The one time racing with the Be Cool on, I made 5 passes in a row and the tems did not go over 172. Yes it was a cold day, high 40s, but 5 passes. Plus it really does just drop in, unlike CAS. To add to this, you also don't have to wait 5 years to get it from Tony at CAS either, don’t believe me read “Will Cas ruin my Christmas???” in the Turbo Lounge and you will never think about buying from CAS every again!!!!

Here is a link to jegs for one of the Be Cool Al radiators that you can get:

Jegs P/N: 134-66062
www.jegs.com

Summit P/N: BCI-66062
www.summitracing.com

This radiator has both an automatic transmission and engine oil cooler.

Jegs P/N: 134-62062

Summit P/N: BCI-62062

This radiator has only an automatic transmission cooler.

If you would like, Be Cool will make you a radiator with only a engine oil cooler. IT IS NOT THE SAME AS THE TRANS COOLER. You can call Be Cool at, Phone: 989-895-9699, or Tech: 888-243-2999.

NOTE: THE BE COOL RADIATOR FOR THE G-BODY IS NOT THE SAME AS THE ONE THAT FITS TRs.

134-66062 is the part # for the one that has both coolers from Jegs.

WOW $677!! ouch. Whats plan B? Thats a WHOLE lot for a rad. Is it at least a polished one??

Its unclear..

I think the first 2 listed are rads. with both coolers and the 2nd 2 have one cooler.;)

Here's what Jeg's said about the rad with oil cooler:
Part number, 134-62062, is a special order item.

Please call 1-800-345-4545 to order this part.

Does anyone know how much this radiator costs?

There are three radiator options FlyinGN.

(1) both an automatic transmission and engine oil cooler

(2) only an automatic transmission cooler

Options (1) & (2) are in stock at jegs or summit or I would think most other places and the part numbers are listed above.

(3) only a engine oil cooler

Option (3) can be done by Be Cool, but it is a special order.

Hope that helps.

seems pretty clear ro me. Thanks for the great replys. I'd like to see more on this subject.
I remember a post where somone mentioned a radiator that Summit was selling as their brand. I think you ordered it by the dimensions you wanted. Anyone know about it?

When I was running a front mount I decided to overhaul my cooling system. I did it differnt though. I took my stock rad and had a High efficiency core installed in it. I then flushed the rest of the system until clean. Installed the rad, used distilled water and water wetter. In 70 degree weather the car never went above 178 at the track and usually ran 172 - 175 in 85 - 90 weather with the A/C on. Was also only about 175 plus 25 labor plus the 9.00 for water wetter. This seems to work well and is a whole lot cheaper.

That was my old name, V8KILLR@msn.com. I no longer have MSN, so I asked Jason to cancel my old name and made my new one V8KILLR. At that time I did not have a Be Cool on the car. I had heard some bad things about Be Cool not fit right, not being worth the money, not being good workmanship, so I almost did not get one. That would have been a big mistake. Maybe at one time the design of the Be Cool was not as good as it is now, because I love mine, works great, and it was very easy to install. You can ask Bill Anderson (EightSecV6) about how easy it was to install. He told me something to the effect of; that was the easiest radiator to install. Plus the thing is HUGE……………looks GREAT with the front mount intercooler, just two big heat exchangers stacked side by side.

I run the Griffon 31x19 GM non-car specific Alum. rad. I got it from Jegs for $189. I run no oil cooler and an external Tranny cooler. If you keep your engine running cool there is no need for an external Oil cooler.

yea, I was thinkin about that idea.. Was it a pretty good fit?? Any mods to make it fit?

Jason,

Can you run the dual fan set-up on the becool, as i will be in the market for a Alum radiator after i deal with Tony to get my $649.00 back.

If you want an inexpensive aluminum radiator, then get one for an 87-92 5.7 liter Camaro or Trans Am. They will drop right in and can be had for under $120!

Warp, I can get you a 3 row hi-efficiency just like the original radiator for these cars through my work. It has both the oil and tranny cooler. I bought one for my car and last summer it ran 160 in 90 degree heat cruising down the highway at 70mph. That was with a stock location intercooler though. It will make a big difference running the tranny fluid just through an external cooler. I tryed it both ways when I had my other car with a PTE front mount. Let me know if you might want one of the radiators. Total cost was only $215. Drop me an e-mail. Later. Stephen.

It fit pretty well. I had to bend the top bracket slightly and used some old innertubefor the bottom. The only problem with it is there is no drain plug. So I got one of those drain tubes from Jegs for 25 bucks and put it inline with my lower rad hose. I actually changed to the SS wiseco hoses for upper and lower now but had it inline with reg hoses for a while first. I can send pics when I get back home on Sat.

njturbo,
You sure can run a dual fan set-up on a Be Cool. I have been thinking about doing it myself. There are two main options that I have come across talking to people. Going with a Spal or Ramchargers fan. The Spal is likely the best on the market, but is not cheap at about $295. As for Ramchargers, their fan is the best bang for the buck out there at about $102.94. Here are some links where you can get these fans:
