alky control kit !!!!

way to go richie !!!!!

You guys are making me blush.

Dennis, I did 97.22 in the 1/8 and 120.78 in the 1/4.. gasoline dripping out of the neck.. thats how full the cars were :)

What I want to know.. this is gonna get some slack.. where are all those Buicks that run low 12's high 11's on 93 pump gas by itself at. I guess its like a 10 second Honda.. everybody says they exist, but I've never seen one.

BigFoot, Lochness monsters, Aliens with probes  ... hehe

Just stirring the pot.. congrats to Richie for the win.

Anyone know the number of cars in the class?

And the weights of the top 4-5?

Actually any details of the class results would be appreciated. :)

congrats Julio that mph is awesome hopefully i'll be able to get a kit from you by summer  Trust me there are more than a few buicks running low 12s on pump gas, i ran 12.353 at 109.9 with 16 psi and I don't have an extreme combo.

We had 10 cars, they all filled up prior to the event at the gas station. Mine I actually fit 11.5 gallons into it. Everybody there pretty much agreed on the fuel issue.

We didnt weigh becuase the cars were all steel, no glass on any. I lost in semifinals due to a red light bulb not agreeing with me  . So technically I was 4th, tho i couldnt build any boost past 4-5 PSI and was a real dog out of the hole. So i'm converter challenged at the present. 2.06 60 foot, ran 11.9 at 120.7

No propane cars, no nitrous cars, ??? what can I say.

I guess the weather played a major role on the performance. It was very hot and humid.

JDSfastGN, I hear ya, just that like in the case of Richie, he had run an 11.5 tho his winning run was a 12.0 due to tire spin. So it takes driving to make the number.

Julio,

I assume you had a bad converter since 2800 stall will spin a PT51. Hope you get that fixed.

So lets see, if the 2.06 had been 1.56, the 11.9 would have been about 11.15 @ about 122 with a heavy car with a PT51 on a hot humid day. Thats not bad.

Out of the many TR's I've raced with around here, I don't recall any in the 11's or 12's on straight pump gas. Only maybe mid 13 cars. The rest always wanted to go as fast as possible, and afraid to risk head gaskets to try very hard on pump gas.

However Geno up here is another thing. When I ran the 10.91 in my sig, I was trying to go as fast as I could on pump gas and methanol. I drove my car to the track and Geno drove his to the track with ET Streets on so he wouldn't have to change anything. He doesn't have alky on his car. On pump Chevron 92, with 16 lb. boost and 20 degrees timing he went 10.65 @ 126+. I think that blows the stink out of 11's or 12's on pump gas.

A week and a half ago we both went to a dyno day for Ford Lightning and Mustangs by invitation ( they wanted to see some real HP ). I drove 35 miles and Geno drove 45 miles to the dyno. I ran on pump gas and methanol at 26 lbs. boost and made 492.8 HP and 591.1 TQ. Geno ran race gas at 24 lb. boost and made 613 HP. This was at the rear wheels. We were one and two out of 40 vehicles .

Dennis, cubes help a lot.. and if you took a 9 second motor, and detuned it to run 93, it would also make the numbers. But if you take an 11 second combo on race gas, run pump, it will be high in the 12's. As are most street Buick motors.

Wish we had a lot more cars like yours and Geno's around here.

I need to sort mine out, and the converter not letting spool happened after the heads and cam deal. So i'll be looking for exhuast issues, inspect the turbo, etc.

Thanks,

Julio

We brought the ugliest T-type (my buddy Jim's white T) down from Jacksonville. Drove down on Nittos, 200 lbs at least of junk in the car (the trunk was full of tools, etc.). Jim ran an initial pass of 12.4x@108 on 15 psi, just as the car drove down without turning the boost up. He did put 3-4 gallons of 110 in the tank for "insurance" but I'm convinced it didn't need it. He ran a couple more passes in the brackets, finishing with a 12.2@112 on 18 psi.

Again, this is a car that is capable of much better performance with higher boost, higher timing, and good gas.

Julio,

Don't mean to be picky, but your question was "where are all those fast Buicks on pump gas". I didn't see anything about only being stock blocks.:) I agree that race only cars would be unfair, but Geno's and my car are street cars. He drove 100 miles round trip to the track and 90 miles round trip to the dyno. Geno's car is a short trip car, but a street car nonetheless. Also when he did have a stock block in the car he went 9.90 and most probably would have gone 10.9 on pump gas.

My car would probably go low 11's on pump gas, but don't care to try it. I can drive my car any distance. If I had the time and money I would take it on the Power Tour, but I don't. I'd drive it on Nitto drag radials so I could turn a low 11 at 127mph at the drag strip on the tour. That would be the real fun for the trip. But one can only dream.

Dennis, I was being sarcastic. See we hear so many that can, but nobody showed. I dont doubt that the cars exist, just that we get a Buick event, and only 41 cars racing, I was a little disappointed with my fellow brothers.

No Buicks racing=no event next year. Great fun, lots of spectators, just few cars racing. Also didnt see the showing we had last year from the central Fla guys.

Keep this up, you'll have to drive 800 miles to see a Buick event.

This wasnt directed torwards you Dennis, just thought i'd vent a little.

BTW.. I'm getting closer to ya..

11.602/118.17 with a 1.847 60 last nite on drag radials.

Hope they have those small turbos. ;)

Dude with the cars that showed up, bring em on.

We had 10 cars register for TSP. One dropped out before it started. Would you think there would be more or less cars if we had let stage motors in the class?

this is the issue, to make a class where people can bring their cars and be competitive, meaning the restriction is 93 octane.

I dont race to win, I ran the car to participate, tho in the back of my head, I was kinda not wanting to win. I feel it wouldnt be rite me helping with tech, my car, and everything surrounding the event. I'm glad Richie and Mike won. they deserve it.

I always wanted an outlaw 93 class.. but no takers. I was there ready.. run good or not..

A lot less cars for sure in the class with stage cars in there.

I'd like to see 2 alky. classes, stock heads and cams. and then the other one.

Not sure how to police it however but the mid. 12 to mid. 13 cars need a class. :)

3600 pounds with driver and any turbo. :D

3rd class could be alky. outlaw, aluminum heads, stage motors, more cubes, etc.

No plastic on any of them. :)

Getting the rules right will boost participation tons of cars use and like the juice.

Julio,

I didn't think anything in this thread was directed at me. Sorry if I said anything that made it sound that way. I was just trying to answer your question.:)

I understand your frustration about pour turnouts. We don't have the concentration of TR's up here that you do, so it is getting really bad here. Ten years ago we could get 10 or 12 cars to a race and now are lucky to get 3 or 4.

And see you go 11.60 on a 1.84 60 ft. Get that down to 1.56 and it's an 11.15. Gotta stop being so wimpy on the launch. Put some beef on the back and launch at 10 lbs.:D

wanna fix the spool up problem toss the 51 in the trash and get any other turbo

51's spool about as fast as a 88 turbo

if you havent run anything different you dont realize it ...step up to a bigger turbo and you may be shocked to see faster spool up

Im building an all pump gas combo now to go in my elcamino would that fit into the class? its 109 block iron heads pump gas with 61 turbo ??
