I need to change my exhaust housing on my turbo. I soaked it with PB Blaster and still it won't come off. I also hit it with a hammer and still it won't come off. When I originally put the exhaust housing on one, I coated the mating surfaces with anti-sieze hoping that if need to take it apart it could, NOT.

Any tips on how to take this apart? I am thinking about putting a torch to the exhaust housing. I also was thinking about putting a harmonic balancer type puller on the housing and letting the center rest on the shaft/nut on the exhaust wheel. Does this sound like a good idea or am going to do damage to the bearing?

Oh, btw, the turbo is a 70BB.

Are you removing for a downpipe install or something?

If you have all the bolts out you should be able to get it off with a little heat or soak for a while with some penetrating stuff.

I had the same problem with mine, the anti sieze might have made problems worse will all that heat, but i would not try and put that much pressure on the wheel.

I dang sure would not put any force on the shaft, unless you want to just use the turbo as an expensive boat anchor!

I've never heard of one being that stuck before either. I know this will sound dumb, but are you sure you've taken all the bolts out, including the one on the bottom that is hard to see? (assuming it's still on the car)

I'd continue to soak it with some sort of penetrant, and then put it in a vice, and pull from the other side.
I realize they can seize a little from rust, but yours sounds a bit extreme.

Just don't touch the shaft, no matter what you do.

It does happen. I had the same problem and talked to PTE and Bruce Aldred for help. PTE said that sometimes they do not come off without damaging something.

I soaked mine with WD-40 for a week and tapped it with a hammer to try to shock it. Finally sent it out to have a .85 housing put on and a Q-trim upgrade and that is it.

Yes, it is off the car.

Yes, I do have access to air tools.

This happened to me before with my T76 turbo, and in the end, I dropped the T76 and destroyed the compressor housing and exhaust wheel.

I guess I will try and soak it some more.

Thanks
