I recently had an electical surge that damaged the A/C pin in my ECM and clutch coil within my compressor. I replaced the ECM, but I was wondering if the A/C clutch can be replaced without replacing the entire compressor. I don't want to replace the compressor because I don't want to lose my R12 charge. I was getting nice cold air before the mishap. My local A/C shop said converting to R134 would cause the system to run to hot and R12 ain't cheap. It's already hot here in Houston, so any thoughts are apreciated.

Thanks,
