Reverse Lights not Working

Mt reverse lights do not work and have not since I got my car 7 months ago. I have to get inspected so I need to get them fixed. I replaced the bulbs. Even if moving the shifter back and forth does not trigger them at all. Any ideas to help get them working would be great. Thanks

check the switch and the plug at the base of steering column (its down low by floor on the top of column ). it may be unplugged or defective
does your lockout linkage work , check that the linkage works , your column housing (by the dash) should rotate when you move floor shifter

I will check that plug. My colum does turn when I move the shifter.

I think pacecarta is right. My backups weren't working so I bought a new Neutral Safety switch, went to install it and the old one was out of adjustment. It can be moved on the column with ease. HTH
